Nature in the Salzkammergut area presents itself with all its charms. The wide meadows of the foothills of the Alps, 76 lakes, natural rivers and brooks, charming pastures and the impressive limestone massifs of the Dachstein, Tote Gebirge, Sensgen and Höllengebirge mountain ranges are full of contrasts and inspirations.
Many persons come here to hike the numerous places of happiness that have from time immemorial attracted people to stop, relax and recharge. Happiness is a state of inner strength and balance, self-discovery and responsibility.

Day 1 Individual journey to Lake Wolfgangsee
Day 2 Walking round trip St. Wolfgang & St. Gilgen
Walking time: approx. 3.5 hrs. Take the boat to St. Wolfgang. On your walk along a walking trail to Falkenstein rock wall you enjoy beautiful views of the lake. An idyllic path along the lake takes you into Mozart village St. Gilgen. Return by boat.
Day 3 Walking trip: Wolfgangsee - Bad Ischl
Walking time: approx. 4.5 hrs. Walk from St. Wolfgang on Saddle walk to lake Schwarzensee. Here the lake cabin of Lore is worth a stop for the delicious home made snacks. Via Wirer gorge into the valley and around Bürglstein to the lake promenade of Strobl. By coach into the ancient Imperial summer residence Bad Ischl.
Day 4 Rest day in Bad Ischl
Use the free time to explore the many points of interest in Bad Ischl. “Kaiservilla” Emperor Franz Josef’s summer residence, Café Zauner with famous delicacies, the thermal spa, there is a wide choice of things to do.
Day 5 Walking trip: Bad Ischl - Bad Goisern
Walking time: approx. 3.5 hrs. Salt always has been an important source of income in Salzkammergut. The oldest brine pipeline of the world leads from Hallstatt’s salt mine to the salt works in Bad Ischl. Walk along the promenade into Kaltenbachau, a site of Imperial pleasures as horse races, picnics and rendezvous. On brine pipeline trail to Bad Goisern, the gateway to UNESCO heritage Hallstatt.
Day 6 Walking round trip Hallstatt
Walking time: approx. 4.5 hrs. Hike the brine pipeline trail to the salt mountain in Hallstatt (salt mine dates back to Celtic times). Here you enjoy a scenic view of the lake and Dachstein massif. Plan a visit of the salt mine, enjoy the views from the top of Rudolf’s tower and visit the excavation sites. A boat carries you across the lake back to Bad Goisern.
Day 7 Walking trip: Bad Goisern - Wolfgangsee
Walking time: approx. 5.5 hrs. By train to Bad Ischl. Take Empress Elisabeth-Walk to tiny lake Nussensee then along river Ischl back to lake Wolfgangsee. Through nature reserve Blinklingmoos along the lake back to your stage stop.
Day 8 Abersee/Wolfgangsee
Individual journey home or extra days.

How to get there:
Best arrival airports are Munich or Salzburg airports
Take the bus from Salzburg Airport to the city center of Salzburg. From the city center take bus #150 to Abersee. Transfer time from Salzburg: about 1 hour.
